Two 1900 Prostitution Candles Paris Rue Caumartin.7 ROCHE & Cie Grand Prix Made in Belgium
A very rare unused item, sometimes referred to as "whorehouse" candles. They would act as a timing mechanism.
The candle would stand in the designated area as shown in the image and burn. Once out, time was up.
We are selling the two together.
25 candles in the pull out draw style box in the box with the Art Nouveau lady.
At least 25 candles in the box with the lady inn the canoe. I did not want to take them out to count,
the box is stuffed full of the candles.
Some tips to candles have crumbled off due to age, laying in the box.
Boxes are in great almost perfect condition considering its age, has striker on one end, small hole to hold candle.
Images of performers on box are clear and box edges are in good condition. Inspect entire box closely in images.
Draw pull folds open.
Beautiful set!
