Description
Paula is well known professional handspinner, author and shepherd who lived in the Seattle area for more than 25 years. She moved to British Columbia 20 years ago to join Pat Green in offering the best fiber preparation tools available. Her dedicated involvement and experience in fiber world have stimulated the design and development of the Triple Picker, the Delicate Deluxe, the Fancicard and of course the Supercard.
She is the author of several books, including this particular one that she recently asked us to republish for her. This is a 2009 Edition of her her book, Spinning for Softness and Speed, which is the result of a lifetime of spinning, and teaching others to spin. On her teaching journeys, she discovered that many people encountered the same problems, and has addressed them beautifully in this quintessential volume on hand-spinning. Packed with photographs, helpful hints and tips it has helped thousands of spinners improve on the softness and speed of their work. I have heard time and time again of the amazing ability of this book to improve the technique and results of even very experienced spinners.
From the back of the book:
"Paul Simmons is well known in the weaving world. A spinner, weaver, and sheepraiser, she is author of Raising Sheep the Modern Way, Spinning and Weaving with Wool, and The Handspinner's Guide to Selling, as well as numerous articles and three cookbooks. She traveled throughout the United States and Canada to teach at spinning and weaving workshops, and this book is the result.
At all my workshops I found people having the same problem over and over again: they were having trouble getting their yarn as soft as they wanted,' she comments. The book not only solves that problem but presents a system that results in dramatically increased spinning speed as well."
